Spike sics these assassins called TheOrderOfTaraka? on Buffy. He also figures out that he can cure the sickly Drusilla by ritualistically mingling her blood with Angel's. Buffy's unhappiness about being a Slayer increases and she goes ice skating with Angel. Angel gets separated and then a mysterious woman traps him in a way that makes sunlight a growing concern. The mysterious woman then confronts Buffy, and we learn there's now more than one Chosen One. Meanwhile, Xander and Cordy go to Buffy's house looking for her. Willow and Oz meet for the first time.

Stuff We Learned

  • Buffy had a Dorothy Hamill phase and still loves ice skating, although she never explores it again after this episode.
  • Buffy's parents used to fight before she became a Slayer. She used ice skating as an escape.
  • The book that some vampire stole out of the library back in the episode LieToMe was written by some guy named JosephusDuLac? who was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church around the turn of the 20th century, and was buried in Sunnydale. The book contained evil rituals described in archaic Latin. This is the book Spike's been trying to get deciphered hoping it could cure Drusilla.
  • Kendra has an accent. Some argue it's not a very good accent, but I believe we are led to believe she's from Jamaica. Or maybe Canada.

Air Quotes With Fingers

  • OZ: "Canape?" (first word he says to Willow)
  • BUFFY: "Y'know, if you don't like the way I'm doing my job, why don't you find somebody else? Oh, that's right, there can only be one. As long as I'm alive, there is no one else. Well, there you go! I don't have to be the Slayer. I could be dead."
  • XANDER: "No, it's a statistical impossibility for a sixteen-year-old girl to unplug her phone."
  • WILLOW: (waking up) "Don't warn the tadpoles! ...I have frog fear."
  • KENDRA: "I am Kendra! De Vampire Slayer!"
