A {{Vampire}} blessed or cursed (depending on how you look at it) with a conscience. There are only two known {{Vampires}} with a {{Soul}}: {{Angel}} and {{Spike}}. However, {{Darla}} once experienced the presence of a {{Soul}} when she was pregnant with {{Connor}}.
This rather ironic concept has been the center to many BtVS and AtS story arcs. In {{Angel}}'s case he was cursed with a {{Soul}} by gypsies who he had wronged, forcing him to "feel" for the people he had tortured and killed in his past. For {{Spike}}, he had somewhat reformed as a {{Vampire}} and through his guilt and confusion after he attempted to rape BuffySummers Buffy?, he sought out a {{Soul}}. However, as the stories continued, in either case, the theme stayed central. They both desired forgiveness.
