During a school trip to the zoo, Xander and some other students accidently succumb to mystical hyena spirits, which slowly devolve Xander and his new friends into barbarians who eat the school mascot, the principal, and worst of all they become a more exclusive social group than the {{Cordettes}}. Buffy figures out there's something wrong when Xander starts actually acting popular, and she demands Giles researches and figures it out. With Willow's help they do, and Buffy saves the day.
