Moloch was a {{Demon}} from ancient times that was entrapped in a tome by monks in the 15th century. Over five and a half centuries the tome somehow made its way to {{Sunnydale}} and into the high school library of RupertGiles. Unbeknownst to anyone, the book still contained the essence of Moloch, and when it was electronically scanned into the school's database, Moloch was reawakened in the Virtual world. Through his powers of persuasion, the ancient {{Demon}} was able to allure some of SunnydaleHS's smartest students to build him a Robot body, where Moloch in turn could take physical form. Yet shortly after he did, the {{Slayer}} BuffySummers discovered his whereabouts and destroyed him forever.
