On their way to a school field trip to the museum, the Scoobies discuss their interest in SunnydaleHS participation in the foreign exchange student program. Cordelia interests herself in a gent named Sven almost twice her size, and Xander gets puppy over a lass named Ampata. Of course it's revealed to us prematurely that Ampata was mummifed five hundred years ago, and a classmate broke this seal which was mystically keeping Ampata from becoming animated again. Since she's unstable, she has to drain life force from other living humans in order to retain her own animated loan on living. The Scoobies investigate these curious deaths of men getting drained of life. Meanwhile, Xander and Ampata have fallen in love, but she's torn because eventually to stay alive she's gonna have to kill him. Naturally, Buffy saves the day.

Stuff We Learned

  • Sunnydale California has a museum of ancient history and a bus depot. This may be the first time we've seen either.
  • Xander is not interested in Willow. He's also socially blind as a bat.
  • This is the first time Oz sees Willow, and is instantly smitten by her.. face. It has to be her face because he can see nothing else. She's in an eskimo costume.
