Recurring character on BuffyTheVampireSlayer

  • First appearance: BtVS episode 1.03, {{TheWitch}}.
  • Amy is an old friend of WillowRosenberg. They used to eat brownies together.
  • Amy has not had the greatest luck with magic over the years:
    • Her mother, CatherineMadison (a cheerleading champion at SunnydaleHS in her day), in an attempt to (literally) live through her daughter, magically swapped bodies with Amy for a period of time during Amy's sophomore year in high school.
    • In her junior year of high school, at XanderHarris' behest, Amy cast a magic spell in order to make CordeliaChase fall in love with Xander. It backfired, affecting every OTHER woman in Sunnydale (including Amy herself). Also, she turned BuffySummers into a rat (BewitchedBotheredAndBewildered).
    • In her senior year in high school, she turned herself into a rat.
    • Amy was transformed back into a human three years later by WillowRosenberg.

Amy is played by ElizabethAnneAllen

ZachsMind kibitzing: It is an hypothesis of mine that Amy is somehow an integral force or catalyst behind TheFirstEvil. This is all admittedly quite {{Apocryphal}}, but think about it. The first time we see TheFirstEvil is in the third season episode {{Amends}} and then immediately after that is the episode {{Gingerbread}} where the town attempts to burn Amy, Buffy and Willow at the stake, and so Amy turns herself into a rat to escape, not realizing that she'd be unable to utter a magic spell that could turn her back.

So three years go by before she's turned back into herself again (for more than a few seconds anyway). And in that entire time, there's nary a peep from TheFirstEvil. Then late into season six, Willow figures out how to change Amy back into herself, and at first they're great old friends but over time Amy grows bitter and gets into dark magicks too deep, and the last time we see her, Willow tells Amy she doesn't want to see her anymore. A year goes by, and in that year we have no idea what Amy has been up to, but TheFirstEvil comes back by the start of season seven, with a vengeance. We only see Amy once in season seven, and she makes no admission that she has anything to do with TheFirstEvil, but she does explain to Kennedy that it's not about winning or losing, or revenge or anything like that, but it's just about power. The same kind of speech TheFirstEvil says to Spike at the beginning of the season.

If she's not the puppet master behind the elusive First Evil, she's somehow involved with the {{Bringers}}.
